The original 1959 kitchen was ready for new cabinets & the homeowner wanted to open it up to the rest of the main floor. It was built with pocket doors on both ends and a lowered ceiling to create a closed off box. Better organization & more prep area was also wanted to help enjoy cooking.
Here is how we helped:
–removed original fixtures, cabinetry, ceiling & doorways
–cut opening into living room shared wall, reinforced cathedral ceiling rafters
–continued oak flooring from living & hallway to new kitchen area
–rearranged appliances, installed new white shaker cabinetry & quartz countertops
–relocated baseboard boiler heat
The new kitchen space now feels like part of the main room with the oak flooring, raised angled ceiling and open doorways. It is now a delight to cook in the new space!
