When you like your house, but not the space in it, you might decide to add a second story!
The older neighborhood had conveniences and close family that made it ideal, but this ranch starter home was quickly being outgrown as the family expanded. The floor plan didn’t allow for the traffic flow and the spaces such as the sun-porch didn’t function for bedrooms. The plan was to add a second story that would move the bedrooms upstairs and reclaim the main level for living space.
Design time was used to draft a new layout to allow for:
- stairs to new level
- upstairs bathroom
- back entry/mudroom
- new kitchen layout
- 3 upstairs bedrooms
The result gives the young growing family an open concept main floor and additional bedrooms, while keeping all the charm and conveniences of the older neighborhood. Who wouldn’t want to come home to this fresh new functional space!
