ABOUT PROJECT
When we took on the project of flipping this 1925 bungalow, our first goal was restoring the kitchen. After some water damage, most of the kitchen had needed to be removed, which meant we were starting from square one!
After going through several floor plan options, we decided to remove the chimney to provide more space for cabinetry. We also added a corner sink, a range hood, and decided on a peninsula like the plan had before. Because this space has a small pantry closet, one of the goals was to add as much storage as possible. This was difficult due to the large window, but we made it work with a pantry cabinet and lots of drawers. We added wall cabinets where we could!
With new cabinetry in Icy Avalanche, Tributary quartz countertops, and a simple backsplash installed to the ceiling, we were able to brighten the space significantly. We installed vintage lights above the peninsula and dining table, and custom trim in the dining room to match the original window and door casing. Two of the mismatched doors in the space were also replaced to match the original.
One of the most impactful changes was removing the flooring that had been installed in the dining room, and having hardwood installed throughout.
What a transformation!
